Any difficult job is easier to handle when you have a good partner by your side. Ben and Jerry, Fred and Ginger, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo – none of them would have been quite as successful on their own.

The software and technology partners you choose can have as big an impact on your business as cheese has on macaroni. That's why it's so important to evaluate and choose your technology providers carefully. A dedicated technology partner can help you navigate the complexities of business software while making sure you're on track to success.

Finding this partner is going to take a little work, but it will be well worth the effort. Start by doing your homework and looking for a company that can show you evidence of six important things:

1. A History of Success

Ask for proof that they can do what they say. They should serve more than 1,000 customers and have proof that their system works. They should even be able to connect you with actual users who are willing to discuss their experience.

2. Financial Stability

You already took on a ton of risk when your business opened its doors. Don’t add to it by partnering with a company that can’t show you a history of financial stability. Ask for proof that they are not only intending to be around for years but have a plan and supports in place to make that happen.

3. Complete Focus on Pest Control

Lots of tech companies can perform many of the same functions as one that exclusively serves pest control providers. But as they say, the devil’s in the details. Make sure the partner you select has a deep understanding of the industry and developed their software specifically for pest control

4. Transparency and Security

Before you sign anything, make sure to ask who owns the company. Some might be owned by an entity that also owns your competitors–or it might be one of your competitors. Also, find out how they will store your data and ensure it is safe, reliable, and up to industry standards.

5. A Dedicated Implementation Team

Onboarding new software for your pest control company takes some time to customize and ensure it works with your existing business processes. The whole process can go off the rails quickly if your team doesn’t receive the right training or have the right supports in place. It’s not enough to have a number to call if you get in trouble–you need a dedicated team that will train everyone on your staff and make sure your onboarding is successful so that you can get the most out of your software partnership.

6. In-House Customer Support

Any software or technology solution is bound to get a little confusing or challenging at times. When that happens, you need to make sure your partner has an in-house, dedicated U.S. support team ready to help long after implementation.

In the best partnerships, each makes the other better. Make sure the partner you choose is the right one for the job.
