How Transitioning to Software Can Change the Trajectory of Your Business
Episode Overview

Melanie Espinola wasn’t quite sure what her future held in 2003. But when she walked into the office of General Environmental Services in Malden, MA, she gained an idea pretty quickly.

“They need me,” she remembers.

At the time, General Environmental Services used index cards to keep track of customers’ appointments and service.

"I was like, 'We can use computers and we can organize it differently and we can have renewals," she says.

Now the operations manager, Espinola has helped lead the way for General Environmental Services ever since.

Espinola recently shared hers and General Environmental Services’ stories with host Amanda Salvatore on a new episode of the Pest in Class podcast. Here’s what they discussed:

  • [09:27]: The opportunity for growth in pest control

  • [18:33]: The transition from running a business on index cards to software

  • [30:49]: How to prepare your team for a transition

  • [44:47]: Advice for those thinking of transitioning to a new software
